HAITI ELECTIONS 2010: An Objective Analysis of the Campaign Trail and its Impact On The People of Haiti: FOLLOW THEM HERE
With Wyclef Jean seemingly entering the political arena, Rene Preval shooting for a third tenure, the international community owning the problem of Haiti, Clinton behind the wheel of Haiti’s destiny, and the people of Haiti reluctant to believe no one and not even messengers of God; the upcoming campaign trail is steering up to be a Hollywood blockbuster where the main characters will be the ones with the most popularity, the most knowledge of Haiti 101, and/or the ones who can better speak the prosaic language of the mainstream.
At the end of the day, the elections will be like a BET/NAACP awards through which the characters who had better quarried on the people, with well-tuned speeches convincing them to “rethink possible,” will rise to take on the challenge of relighting the nation’s hope for days of harvest.
Clearly, with all the media attention, all the aids, and all the potential that the country offers to its sons and daughters and to foreigners who are currently testing the ground so to later launch some kinds of lucrative ventures in disfavor of the majority; we may conclude that Haiti is on the road to, once again, make worldwide history.
To repeat Mirlande and Leslie Manigat, the nation will have the choice between champagne and “unsophisticated alcohol” but it is not clear whether this time they will return to their vomit because the earthquake 12 JAN 10 taught them to never fall for the guy who advises them “to swim to get out” or the guy who tells them “to stop complaining for he is buying the rice as expensive as they do.”
The upcoming elections will be filled with emotions and even a whole lot of deceptions. Candidates will use touching words and moving stories to prey on Haitians who hope that they (politicians) will drive them out their contemptible situation.
The electoral campaigns will run smoothly this time because the plot of words is already carefully scripted. ”I will rebuild your homes, I will attract foreign businessmen, I will create jobs” except this time, the speeches will be counterweighed with sounds, tunes, and a myriad of “fugee” verses.
Grab your popcorn, grab your seat, and fasten your seatbelt because the world is about to be taken in the most powerful and adventurous ride ever and guess what; I bet you that these upcoming elections are neither about Haitians nor they are about Haiti.

I’ve recently started a blog, the information you provide on this site has helped me tremendously. Thank you for all of your time & work.
“I bet you that these upcoming elections are neither about Haitians nor they are about Haiti.” . . . . I could’nt disagree more. We need someone in office that actually cares about Haiti and it’s people as Wyclef has shown he does . . for that matter, even Clinton should run. We need someone that has always had Haiti on their mind and in their heart, not only when it’s in the headlines. I pray God’s plan for Haiti comes to fruition sooner rather than later.
Where was Wyclef after the earthquake? Clinton has more power in Haiti than he had when he was president of the US.
