HAITI ELECTIONS 2010: An Objective Analysis of the Campaign Trail and its Impact On The People of Haiti: FOLLOW THEM HERE
He refrained himself from drinking and smoking for five weeks so to save $250, which he donated to Haiti 2020 Scholarship Fund in order to sponsor a bright student in Haiti.
Between shots of Tequilla and bottles of Miller Light, he asked me what he could do to help Haiti. I jumped on the occasion to tell him about Haiti 2020 Scholarship Fund. I told him that the mission of the scholarships was to invest in the academic future of Haitian students, regardless of their parents’ financial means. I also told him that a scholarship in Haiti was worth about $250 a year.
That man showed little interest because clearly he was nearly drunk. However, I gave him my business card but I had no hope that he would call nor he had paid any attention to my speech.
The next day, I was surprised to find out that he was him who went out of his way to call me in order to tell me that he remembered our conversation. He later told that he would call me in five weeks so we could further talk about Haiti.
Five weeks later, he came to my office and handed me a check of $250 payable to Haiti 2020 Scholarship Fund. He told me that his heart went out to the people of Haiti after I showed him sad pictures of the earthquake the night before.
As a way to show compassion to Haitians who had lost family members and friends; he vowed to not drink and smoke for five weeks. He said that he spent $50 in cigarettes and beers every week. He stashed away $50 each week he did not go to a bar and on the fifth week, he summed up $250, which he donated as an investment toward education in Haiti.
He later said that “it is a great feeling to be sober on the weekend” and he would do his best to stay sober for the rest of his life.
Imagine what we could do if just for 5 weeks we refrain to spend money on stuff we do not need and save whatever we use to spend each week so it can total up to $250 and invest those $250 toward a great cause; a cause like Haiti 2020 Scholarship Fund.
Can you guys go for five weeks without all the things that you want but not need?

Very touchy story-If he could do it so can I. That sound reasonable and duable…
Here are my 5 reasons I will try to refraim from for 5 weeks to contribute $50.00 to Haiti2020 SF.
1. Go have nice dinners every night & cook
2. Only buy one pair of 5inch stillettos
3. Contribute homecooked food to office potlucks instead of going to a restaurant and have it catered
4. Drink lot’s of water instead of sodas and a wine every day
5. No magazines from the rack when I can have it all for free right here on LM and FB
Thanks for the story that inspired me to do the same….Hope many others will follow
